I Wonder...

Ok, so here I am back with a post... This time it's to show all the people that visit my blog a video about a contestant in Miss Teen Usa who replied a question in a really crazy way, here you can see the original one ... I wonder if all the blonde girls in USA are actually like her ? If that's the true then now I understand why they chose Bush hahaha... This video really gives answers to the theories of BIMBOS, blondes that don't seem to be on this planet, always worried about their physical appearance and 0 personality... I hope there aren't many here in Maracaibo, but maybe just maybe I'M ABSOLUTELY WRONG HAHAHA... Hope you like it...

UPDATE: I found this video on myspace, it's a spoof on the previous video ... hahaha

Final Thoughts

The semester is almost over...That means English Oral Expression is coming to an end...
The subject was really good and it was interesting to practice english with new and differente people, I think this way of communicating works for this level...
Signing up to so many different internet services was our way of starting to be international....
At first I thought it was going to be difficult to make good friends but come to think of it, I made some good friends...
Also I always thought that watching a subject with graphic design will unleash the crazy person that I am... I was right, these classes were kind of a release of tension because waking up at 6 am is always annoying but having fun while practicing english was all that I cared about...
A big shout out goes to the teacher for making this course so enjoyable...
And my partners thanks for practicing with me and not judging people by their career...

Ok here it is, my english oral expression final project... We were asked to record four short shows and interview guests... Each show had a topic, the first one being Introduction, then Technology, after that we talked about Movies and finally School Life... Hope you like them all...

RESISTANCE

Since there's so much stuff going on in Venezuela nowadays, I've decided to dedicate this post to share some information with whoever is interested about OTPOR!...

OTPOR! means Resistance! and it was a youth movement in the now extinct Federal Republic of Yugoslavia which has been widely credited for leading the eventually succesful struggle to overthrow Slobodan Milosevic from power back in 2000.

It was formed October 10 of 1998 as a response to repressive university and media laws introduced earlier that year. In the beginning, Otpor's activities were limited to University of Belgrade.

In the aftermath of the NATO airstrikes against FR Yugoslavia in 1999 regarding the Kosovo War, Otpor began a political campaign against the Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic . This movement resulted in nationwide police repression against Otpor activists, during which nearly 2,000 were arrested, some beaten.

During the presidential campaign of September 2000, Otpor launched its "Gotov je" (which means "He's finished") campaign which would galvanize national discontent with Milošević and eventually result in his defeat. Some students who led Otpor used Serbian translations of Gene Sharp's writings on nonviolent action as a theoretical basis for their campaign.

Otpor became one of the defining symbols of anti-Milošević struggle and his subsequent overthrow. The easily recognizable clenched fist logo had an empowering visual effect, but it was their youthful exuberance and brave stand in face of persecution which won most hearts and minds. By aiming their activities at the pool of youth abstinents and other disillusioned voters, Otpor contributed to one of the biggest turnouts ever for the September 24, 2000 federal presidential elections.
Having succeeded in persuading a large number of the traditional electorate to abandon Milošević was another one of the areas where the smear-proof Otpor played a key role. Milošević had in the past succeeded in persuading the public that his opponents were spies and traitors, but on this occasion, it backfired, as the beatings and imprisonments during the summer of 2000 further cemented the decision to vote against the regime in many voters' minds.
OTPOR!'s influence was felt around Europe with similar movements such as: Kmara in Republic of Georgia, Pora in Ukraine, Zubr in Belarus, Oborona in Russia, MJAFT! (Albanian for Enough!)in Albania and lots of others...
OTPOR! even received a Free Your Mind Award at the 2000 Europe Music Awards...

First Post

Welcome to Diego's Blog, this blog was created for English Oral Expression so that I can post each assignment... First assignment was introducing ourselves and meeting two new classmates...

Hi, my name's Diego, I was born in Maracaibo and I live in Indio Mara, I'm 21 years old and I study industrial engineering in LUZ and Business Administration in Urbe. I like playing videogames when I have some free time but also downloading tons of music and listening to it... I like surfing on the web and learning about something new each day.

My dream is to graduate of my two careers and have a job so I can afford another dream: buying a car... I dream of someday visiting Cape Town, South Africa (maybe 2010?)... And my ultimate dream is to get married and have a family...I think learning english is very important because is practically the world's language, in this course I'd like to polish up my english habilities and meeting new people in the process...

Today I met two very interesting people on my English Class...

The first one was Luisana, she's from Maracaibo and studies Industrial Engineering at Urbe. She's only 18 years old and even though she didn't want to say it, she told me she lives in Sierra Maestra...She likes going to parties and dancing a lot, she also enjoys eating a good ice cream... Spending time with her family is the most important thing to her (and her little dog...).

She absolutely hates waking up early on weekdays and she is really worried with all the violence in the world nowadays.

Her dream is to have a car and she thinks english is "very interesting".

The second one is Daniela, she's 19 years old, studies Graphic Design and was born in Maracaibo...

She loves music...She hates talking about politics and people who think money's everything.

Her dream is to travel around the world after she graduates.

She thinks english is important to learn so people can be prepared for the future...
